What God Looks for in Leaders

In our Passing the Torch series, we come to 1 Timothy 3:1-13, where the apostle Paul turns his attention to the kind of leadership God desires for His church—not leadership driven by charisma, success, or results, but leadership rooted in character and trustworthiness. Paul reminds Timothy that those who lead God’s people must live lives that can be trusted not only in public, but in the quiet, ordinary spaces of home and daily life.

This passage challenges all believers, not just leaders, to consider who God is forming us to be over time. Faithfulness, humility, and integrity are not built in a moment, but shaped through a life lived honestly before God—because the church is led, and sustained, by people whose lives have proven they can be trusted.
